Lucie Keijser was born on 9th December 1875 in Amsterdam. She lived and worked in Amsterdam, Laren, Brugge, ‘t-Gooi en Kortenhoef.

Education
Lucie was a student of Jan Derk Huibers of the Rijksnormaalschool voor Teekenonderwijzers in Amsterdam and later she also studied with Carel Lodewijk Dake, who also taught Lizzy Ansingh, Jo Koster, Agnieta Gijswijt, en Jacoba Ritsema, amongst others.

Life & work
She lived and worked in Amsterdam until she married G.L.Wittig in 1907 and after that time, with a few interruptions, she worked in Brugge (Belgium) and Kortenhoef. After the death of her first husband she remarried R. Ruijneman on 23rd October 1940.
Her most productive period was from 1890 until her death in 1958. Lucie painted with oil paints, mainly still lifes with flowers or fruit. But besides these topics she was an excellent master of landscapes, usually with lots of blossoms. She wanted to paint nature in its pure state, reproducing even dandelions with great love and attention. As well as painting she was also good at drawing and she mastered the art of working with pastels.
She was a member of art society De Onafhankelijken (the Independents) and of Vereeniging van Beeldende Kunstenaars Laren-Blaricum (Association of Visual Artists).
Lucie Keijser died on 26th Januari 1958 in the village of Laren, famous for its many artists inhabitants.

The municipality of Laren (now Blaricum-Eemnes-Laren) posesses one of her works: ‘Groene vaas met Oost-Indische Kers (green vase with nasturtium)’, according tot he book Couleur Locale (2009).
